Dr Shafick Adams

Dr Shafick Adams currently serves as the Executive Manager for the Water Resources and Ecosystems key strategic area at the Water Research Commission. He is a Commissioner of the Presidential Climate Commission. He is a Senior Fellow of the Water Institute of South Africa and a Fellow of the Geological Society of South Africa. He serves and has served on several strategic boards, panels and task teams that aim to enhance water security and human capacity development in the water and related sectors. He is the past chair of the Groundwater Division and past co-chair of the International Water Association’s Groundwater Restoration and Management Specialists Group. He oversees all research, development and innovation activities related to governance and institutional arrangements, hydrological and ecosystems processes, water resource and ecosystem protection and utilization, environmental change and adaptation, resource quality and management and water resources innovation and technologies.
