David Allpass is a professional Civil engineer with 35 years experience in the civil, structural and municipal environment with a particular focus on potable water infrastructure provision both in the consulting and government spheres’.  With the onset of the Cape Town ‘Day Zero’ drought, David was enlisted to assist the W&S Directorate with the development of City of Cape Town groundwater resources, initially the Cape Flats and Atlantis Aquifers and then the Table Mountain Group Aquifer - each of these three aquifer projects has provided unique challenges and afforded many learning opportunities to the project team.    David sees the development of indirect potable reuse through aquifer replenishment as a cornerstone of sustainable water use and is particularly enthusiastic and proud of his role in the development of the two managed aquifer recharge projects.
