Daniela Benedicto van Dalen

Daniela Benedicto van Dalen (MSc.) is a hydrogeologist with over 20 years of experience in managing groundwater resources. In the past decade, she worked in an international-oriented setting focusing on developing groundwater resources in developing nations, specifically in Africa. As Senior Hydrogeologist at Acacia Water - The Netherlands, she leads applied projects where knowledge of the hydrogeological systems is deployed to increase access to sustainable water resources in Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya, Somalia and Angola. Such projects look through the opportunities in the landscape for both deep boreholes exploration and Natural Based Solutions to improve the recharge and storage of shallow aquifers in rural contexts for climate-resilient livelihoods. As a member of the IAH-MAR commission, she will perform with great honour the role of convening the MAR session during the 50th Congress.
